At Sharratt Chiropractic, we understand the importance of keeping you healthy and well during your pregnancy. Because our passion is to provide exceptional care for each member of the family, we see caring for a pregnant woman as a great opportunity to care for mother and child.
The physical transformation of the female organism during 40 weeks of pregnancy is enough alone to justify structural correction. Our pregnant moms love the comfort that comes from the chiropractic adjustment and the reduction of nerve interference. This is particularly true during the last trimester of pregnancy when weight gain is at its maximum and the transfer of weight shifts backwards onto the sacroiliac joints. Our chiropractic tables adjust so that mother can comfortably lay face down and baby is safely cradled during treatment.
Dr. Sharratt has been twice certified in the Webster Technique. The Webster Technique is a specific and gentle chiropractic adjustment that boasts an 85% effectiveness in correcting breach position of the developing baby.
As the pregnancy develops, a woman’s body changes in subtle and not so subtle ways. A common and painful condition of pregnancy is a posterior tilted uterus onto the nerves of the sacral plexus. This severely painful condition is often resolved with just a few chiropractic adjustments. With regular chiropractic adjustments, a woman can find relief from back pain and even lower labor times.*
Along with regular chiropractic adjustments, we offer massage therapy for pregnant women. Like our chiropractic tables, our massage tables conform to mother’s changing shape, enabling her to lay face down to receive care. Massage therapy is relaxing and offers a respite from a changing body that may cause undesired pain.
Our trained massage therapists are certified in pregnancy massage technique. Combined with their advanced training, their professional experience, and gifted hands are the reasons our pregnant moms make massage therapy an essential part of their neonatal health strategy.
Comfort to the mother is not the only reason chiropractic and massage therapy makes natural sense for pregnant women. Research shows that baby develops more safely in a uterine environment that is free from mechanical torsion and an enhanced nerve supply from the mother. Plus, a mother that is stress-free statistically delivers more healthy babies without C-section surgery.
