Tips for Improving Posture and Ergonomics

Do you have correct posture? Many people aren't sure. If you haven't done so already, schedule a postural screening as part of your next chiropractic care appointment. This can provide you with insight as to whether you need postural improvement while sitting or standing (hint: most people do).

Fundamental to healthy good posture is a healthy nerve supply to the core musculature which supports your human frame.  Gentle chiropractic adjustment restores a robust nerve supply so that the body’s musculature can sustain healthy posture throughout the course of the day.   There are also plenty of exercises you can perform to improve your core strength and the strength of your back muscles. This, in turn, can help to improve your posture and your overall spinal health.

In addition to exercises to build core strength, be aware of your ergonomics at work—particularly if you spend a lot of your day sitting in front of a computer. Make sure you have a desk chair that provides adequate support for not just your back, but your neck and arms as well. Furthermore, make sure that your computer screen and keyboard are at a proper angle and height. Ideally, your screen should be directly in front of you at eye level for best ergonomics.
