Nutraceuticals are dietary supplements containing food sources that offer a wide variety of benefits to your health. They may also be referred to as "biological therapies" intended to support your overall well-being, reduce your risk of suffering medical problems and manage symptoms of chronic diseases. The term nutraceutical appeared about 30 years ago as a combination of "pharmaceutical" and "nutrient" and encompasses an ancient Greek philosophy asserting that "food should be your medicine".
